Tim Burton's long awaited return to stop-motion animation. Although Burton was again working on two projects at the same time (Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Fatory), he did find time to be the co-director of the movie. (Unlike with Nightmare Before Christmas which was directed by Henry Selick). Burton cast Johnny Depp conveniently as the lead for both Charlie and Corpse Bride, which allowed, or forced, Depp to sometimes record Victor Van Dort's voice role on the same day he was shooting his scenes as Willy Wonka.
In any case the result was for the most part more than satisfactory, and Corpse Bride has already found its fanbase and become a minor cult classic. Enthustiastic Corpse Bride fans enjoy having endless arguments about which is sexier, Bonejangles' sexy hat or Victor's amazing pants. Whatever those things are.
