The correct term, I believe, is flambouyant.
Gay? Not really.
Flambouyant? Heck yes.

He's not gay... he's confident, and yes, very flambouyant. _________________

I personally think he hasn´t decided yet. But you know these 18th century men, they were all the kind that were´nt too reluctant to either way....even if they were mainly straight. _________________ "We´re friends of Debbies´." |

hmm....well there must be some times when he's out at sea...with an all-male crew...and he's lonely _________________ "I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions" |

I totally agree. It's a historical fact JD was well aware of and used (or overused for that matter) quite brilliantly! However... in my humble opinion, if - god forbids - they decide to do more POTC movies, I think a gay Capt. Jack should come out loud and clear... after all it's a possible side of the character JD must be interested in exploring/exposing... otherwise there is no point in making more of these movies... we already seem to know Captain Jack inside out... or at least have got enough of him (after POTC3 shows of course ) _________________ Hummphhhhh... |

I agree, it would bring the real intrigue and surprising twists back like the first movie had. this is getting way too mainstream. It has to be quirky, wacky, make your knee-pits itch, give you this funny feeling, like "is THIS meant for my eyes at all?" and "Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii can´t wait how this´ll turn out at the end!!!!"
a kiss between Jack and Liz was nothing....wait till you see Jack kiss Barbossa. _________________ "We´re friends of Debbies´." |

OH YEAH! and I bet JD prefers to kiss Geoffrey Rush too while JD expressed the awkwardness of acting any possible romance between Liz and Capt. Jack (in his commentary on the 1st POTC scene with her on the island he described it as "the father-daughter moment!!) he loves working with Rush "like a couple of old ladies bickering" LOL .... That would be AWESOME!! _________________ Hummphhhhh... |

actually, after watching Libertine, and the way he looked our Jack D....
yes, he came close. very close. I mean, did you see his smirk? haha. Yes, Norrington would be an option too. although that would make a lot of viewers a little jealous. _________________ "We´re friends of Debbies´." |

Will comes in the "father-son thingy" if we go with JD's reasoning! all the older guys would be of much more interest. Think Gibbs huh _________________ Hummphhhhh... |

well, it is controversial. on one hand, we see these women slapping him. probably old lovers. but what are they slapping him for? maybe they found him in bed with a member of the crew. although Anamaria is in the crew too. And in the first film, when Gibbs says, it is bad luck to have a woman on board and Jack says it´d be far worse not to have her....well, I am not sure what he had in mind. But still, he IS from the 18th century, and especially looking at his prototype ( see the article in Character Origins) and what that guy wore..... I do not have evidence to prove the gay argument, but it it sure as hell aint straight either. All these guys from that era....you know, even Louis the Whatever....and the guy-ladies that appeared in literature..
besides, they say, normality is a thin line between one insane and the other. who can walk on a rope that thin? _________________ "We´re friends of Debbies´." |

nah that was the hallucination that went for the goat. Not Jack himself.
There seemed to be sparks flying between two of the Jacks though, not the original one, but the ones on board Dutchman. Well, not the brainless one... a spark is the last thing HE needs. but the other two. When Jack wasn´t watching the Jacks. _________________ "We´re friends of Debbies´." |

| I kind of agree with whoever said he was just flamboyant. Definitely. Can you imagine the general reaction to Jack's being gay, though? I think it'd be hysterical... |

Hm, actually, Jack seems to me a bit asexual. Even though the whores in different ports, or making out with Lizzy. He strikes me as a type who doesn't really pursuit or think of it that much. _________________ "He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man." |

he is like me then. he´s got his own thing, his passion for the sea and sailing...just being a pirate. but I dont think he has enough will power to say "no". _________________ "We´re friends of Debbies´." |
